Dr. Botta has over 20 years of work experience in the field of mental health. He has been serving children, adolescents, adults and families since 1992. Dr. Botta earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida International University, his Masters from Nova Southeastern University and his Doctorate from Carlos Albizu University. He completed 2 internships: one at the Domestic Intervention Program in Miami while co-facilitating groups for the Batterers as well as for the victims of domestic violence and the other at the Miami Children’s Hospital Psychiatric Adolescent Unit. He has worked with Juvenile offenders, D.U.I. Offenders and Misdemeanor Drug Offenders for the past 20 years and he has been teaching part-time at Miami-Dade College North Campus, classes for divorcing parents and their children (ages 11-17) since 1995. Dr. Botta is a member of the American Psychological Association and he stays current in regards to the latest research in order to better help his patients.
Dr. Botta’s individualized and pro-active approach is used to help children and their families cope effectively with emotional, behavioral and stress-related problems. He also creates a supportive environment where adolescents and adults can feel comfortable addressing life’s challenges through a strength based, solution focused approach. Dr. Botta’s approach helps people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds develop self-awareness, self-confidence and see life from ‘a different perspective’ in order for them to believe in themselves and make life altering changes. His methods involve understanding how the patient’s past impacts their current level of functioning and then through this self-awareness, helping him or her make healthier decisions today in order to reach their full potential and live mentally, physically and spiritually healthier lives. His approachable style and personality help even the most resistant teenager to feel comfortable in counseling.
